Sweep the Chimney
Dr. Soot uses a Ro-Vac with Hepa filters and a 10-foot 4” hose. Before beginning, drop cloths are placed over the area for protection. Power lights, poly rods and brushes are used to do the sweep job. The job is done with no mess.
========================================================================================================================

Stove Pipe and Dampers
Remove old wood stove pipe and replace it with new pipe and install damper in pipe. Also, if fireplace has no damper in it, an energy top sealing with a pull cord damper may be installed.
========================================================================================================================

Inspections
Level #1 inspections are completed with power lights inspecting the chamber from bottom up and from top down.
Level #2 inspections include checking the flue tiles on the inside of the chimney with a camera. The chamber, firebox and all clearances are checked for defects from combustible materials.
========================================================================================================================
Chimney Cap Covers
These are installed to keep out birds and other animals. Different sizes of flue tile caps are placed on masonry fireplaces and round ones are placed on pre-fab fireplaces with chase covers. I also provide custom caps when needed.
========================================================================================================================

Pre-Fab Fireplaces
Take out broken or cracked refractory back wall or side panels of firebox and replace with new ones.
========================================================================================================================
Masonry Fireplaces
Fireboxes are tuck pointed or firebrick is replaced as needed. Chimneys are tuck pointed outside only at the top under crown about 8 – 10 rows.
========================================================================================================================
Chimney Crowns
Crowns are sealed with “Crown Coat”. This is spread over cracks
in the crown to prevent moisture from entering into the interior part of the
chimney. If needed, concrete crowns will be installed to replace the old one
and then will be sealed with “Crown Coat.”
========================================================================================================================
Waterproofing
Masonry chimneys that get waterproofing are sprayed with “Saver System” to keep moisture out of mortar joints which causes bricks to spall and loosen the mortar resulting in it falling out of the joints.
========================================================================================================================

Animals Removed
Squirrels, raccoons, birds and nests are removed from smoke shelf or flue and top of chimney caps.
